Decision making in the 21st century is Disciplined Chaos.

Carefully laid plans fail quickly in our changing environment. But discipline is still useful - when applied to process, not control of an outcome. Leaders are learning that better decisions come from decentralized systems with easy access to information and the license to make, break, and build it again.

For over a decade I have been teaching leadership classes and facilitating design workshops for everyone from future naval officers and start-up teams to indigenous leaders. Paradoxically, it turns out you can design a better business strategy by wearing shark hats and playing at improv.

My Research

I am a PhD student, co-designing research with Maori tribes. Together we are reflecting on and co-designing the practices groups use to create and explore 3D data visualizations of complex concepts like community wellbeing and environmental health.
